Better but still not enough. The hammer thrower Ragnar Carlsson was not close to advancing from the hammer qualification in Tokyo. Sad that it did not go, he says after 72.51 meters.

To advance in the World Championship in athletics in Japan, 76.50 meters were required or to be among the twelve best.

Ragnar Carlsson did not manage to be on the right side of the limit.

The 24-year-old's 72.51 meters were enough for an 18th place in the qualifying round.

There are positive things to take from here as well, he says.

Some of it is about him coming back in the spring after a troublesome back injury, another about the nervousness being handled better at the National Arena.

The competition process has been much better. It has been calmer and I have been able to focus on what I want to do technically and not struggle with nervousness, he says.

It is an ongoing process to try to solve this, I'm starting to get calmer and it's getting better.

Carlsson's only approved throw was his first, then followed two straight fouls.

Kajsa Roth has also finished competing in the World Championship. The pole vaulter did set a personal record, 4.45 meters, but it was not enough to advance to the final. 4.70 meters were required or being among the twelve best was needed to advance to the medal jump.

The atmosphere was great, it's the qualifying round on Monday morning and it felt like the arena was fully packed. It was really cool to set a personal record here, she says.

Moa Granat finished last in her heat on 400 meters hurdles and is thus also eliminated.
