Germany's team captain Dennis Schröder was subjected to racism in the country's match against Lithuania in the European Championship in basketball in Finland. Two people in the stands were identified as guilty and thrown out of the arena in Tampere, according to the German Basketball Federation.

You can insult me, but applause is something I do not respect or accept. Racism has no place in this sport, said Schröder about the incident.

It was when the NBA star was on his way down to the locker room that he heard the sounds.

I noticed that Dennis was very upset - and rightly so. Such things have no place in sports, says Germany's assistant national coach Alan Ibrahimagic.

The German association has filed a complaint with the International Basketball Federation, FIBA, where they urge FIBA to ban the two supporters.

Germany is playing in the same group as Sweden in the European Championship and won the match against Lithuania with 107–88.

In 2023, Schröder was named MVP, the tournament's most valuable player, when Germany became world champions.
