According to Qatar's Ministry of Defense, the Su-24 bombers were the first reported instance in three days of war of any Gulf country confronting a manned Iranian aircraft.

Seven ballistic missiles and five drones from Iran were also shot down during the day, according to Qatar's Ministry of Defense.

The country's state-owned energy company announced it was suspending production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) after Iranian drone attacks on some of its facilities. The region's energy production has also been affected by attacks on an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman and an oil refinery in Saudi Arabia.

Iran: Targeting US bases

Flames and smoke rose from the US embassy in Kuwait following a suspected Iranian attack. Kuwait's air defenses, in the heat of battle, accidentally shot down three American fighter jets.

Explosions have also been reported in the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, as well as in Bahrain.

Britain is evacuating one of its air bases in Cyprus after an Iranian drone attack, which is said to have caused "limited damage".

In response to US attacks, Iran says it is targeting US bases in countries in the region and that the strikes should not be seen as attacks on those countries, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated on Monday.

"Iran has no hostility towards the Persian Gulf countries and is determined to maintain good relations with them," Araghchi reportedly said during a phone call with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, according to a statement from Iran's Foreign Ministry.

Iraq and Lebanon

Explosions and air raid sirens were also heard over Jerusalem on Monday. Iran has fired a new salvo of ballistic missiles at Israel in response to recent Israeli bombings of Tehran. According to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the missiles are targeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office and the Israeli Air Force headquarters.

In Iraq, there have been attacks on a military base housing the Kataeb Hezbollah militia group. This has been followed by reports of explosions at the airport in Arbil, where the US has a military presence.

From Lebanon, the pro-Iranian Shia militia Hezbollah has fired rockets at Israeli villages. Israel has responded with sharply escalated bombing of Lebanon, where at least 30 people are reported to have died.
