The attacks consisted of 67 drone bombers, five "regular" missiles and two Kinzhals, the Ansa news agency reports, citing the air force. Ukraine says it has neutralized most of the drones, but not the missiles. The latter may be more difficult to shoot down, but Ukraine has also complained of a lack of ammunition to stop the intense Russian attacks.
Kinzhal is reported to be capable of traveling at up to ten times the speed of sound, and costs the equivalent of SEK 50-100 million each. President Vladimir Putin first showed it off in 2018, as one of the military initiatives that have been called Russia's new superweapon.
It's almost impossible to stop. That's why they use it, said then-US President Joe Biden in 2022.
Kinzhal has thus been used from time to time during the major offensive war against Ukraine of the past three years, but relatively sparingly due to its high cost.
