The prosecutor has requested an extended indictment period until April 21. Among other things, more interrogations of the suspect will be held and a final autopsy report and results from more technical examinations are still pending.

"The evidence has been strengthened by what has emerged so far in the investigation," writes the Swedish Prosecution Authority.

It is unlikely that the investigation will be completed before the summer, according to the Prosecution Authority.

The murdered woman was reported missing after a night out on Boxing Day last year. The suspect, a 26-year-old, was arrested the following day in connection with handling the woman's body.

The 26-year-old, who has identified as a woman since 2023 and changed to a female first name, has admitted to aggravated assault but denies murder. The suspect has undergone a forensic psychiatric examination that concluded they do not suffer from a serious mental disorder.

The suspect has previously been convicted of aggravated child pornography and attempted kidnapping.
