The 27-year-old was suspected of planning murders of rivals in Kalmar and Sundsvall from his temporary residence in Spain.
At the same time, a residential area in Kalmar was shaken by shootings and attempted murders.
Now, four men with ties to the Foxtrot network are sentenced to prison for, among other things, incitement to attempted murder, serious drug offenses, and multiple serious weapons offenses.
At first, it seemed like a local conflict between rival networks in Kalmar – several shootings, assaults, and attempted murders followed each other. However, as the investigation unfolded, it became clear how the events in the small town of Kalmar could be linked to the major police operation in Sundsvall last year, where it emerged that murders via both shootings and explosions were planned against gang criminals in the rival network Dalen.
When the police tapped into the network, it became clear how a 27-year-old from Kalmar functioned as a kind of Foxtrot middle-level leader. He controlled his underlings – and appeared to be planning murders of rivals in Sundsvall – from Spain.
The man was arrested when he returned to Sweden via Oslo and has been brought to trial at Kalmar District Court along with the other three men, who are between 20 and 27 years old.
The 27-year-old was sentenced to 11 years and 8 months in prison for incitement to attempted murder, preparation for murder, and incitement to serious weapons offenses, as well as aiding and abetting serious weapons offenses. He was, however, acquitted of the charge of aiding and abetting preparation for murder, linked to Sundsvall, according to Kalmar District Court in a press release.
A 25-year-old was sentenced to 2 years and 10 months in prison for serious weapons offenses and drug offenses, and a 23-year-old received a 7.5-year prison sentence for attempted murder and serious weapons offenses. The youngest, a 20-year-old, was sentenced to 4 years and 10 months in prison for serious weapons offenses and serious drug offenses.
Nine other people who have already been convicted in other cases are linked to the case.
A large part of the shootings and explosions that occurred in the Stockholm region during the first half of 2023 is linked by the police to a conflict between the so-called Foxtrot and Dalen networks.
The conflict has primarily concerned claims to the drug market in Stockholm and Sundsvall. In addition, the conflict is driven, according to the police, by a desire for revenge for previous violent crimes.
The conflict intensified at the end of 2022 and has resulted in around 40 violent crimes until April this year.
