Three boys aged 15–18 came to Sweden thinking they would receive an education on a farm, but were instead exploited as free labor. According to the Court of Appeal for Skåne and Blekinge, it is proven that they worked six days a week, approximately eight hours per day, without pay.
"They paid to receive an education in Sweden at an academy or school and traveled from Mauritius to Sweden because of the promised education. Here they were instead forced to work extensively without any pay," says Court of Appeal Councilor Petter Anefur in a press release.
The woman was also sentenced to a three-year business ban and must pay a total of just over 200,000 SEK in damages to the boys.
