Come tired and full – and preferably dressed up. Those were the requirements to participate in the government's nap competition in the South Korean capital Seoul on Saturday.
The event, held for the third year in a row, aims to draw attention to sleep deprivation. Many young South Koreans are overworked and sleep poorly, statistics show. On the lawn by the Han River, the exhaustion was palpable, writes Reuters.
Between exam preparation and extra work, I survive on three or four hours of sleep a night, and supplement with a few naps at my desk during the day, Seoul-born Park Jun-Seok told the news agency.
The competition was won by a man in his 80s, ahead of 37-year-old Hwang Du-Seong.
"I was completely exhausted," said the silver medalist.
