The spring sowing has started early and there are record-large areas of autumn-sown crops established, according to Lantmännen. In addition, there are what is described as "favourable weather conditions during the early spring".
The risk of setbacks is, however, not eliminated.
"So far, almost the entire harvest potential remains in the autumn-sown crops, but there is still a lot of weather ahead until harvest", says Johannes Åkerblom, crop management chief at Lantmännen Lantbruk in the press release.
Regarding the farmers' profitability, Lantmännen points to several factors:
"The fact that fertilizer prices have increased sharply since last autumn, while grain prices are falling, and the development of the Swedish krona are three significant parameters that affect the farmers' profitability calculations early in the harvest year 2025", writes Lantmännen.
Lantmännen is owned by 17,000 Swedish farmers and has 12,000 employees in areas such as agriculture and food production.
