After months of street protests against ICE, tenants in Portland, Oregon, have purchased gas masks to wear indoors - to protect themselves from tear gas leaking into their apartments, they claim.

They live across from the ICE building, where protests have been ongoing for months and police have used tear gas to disperse them. Tenants say they have been forced to buy gas masks to protect themselves, even inside their apartments. Others have tried taping windows shut or stuffing wet towels in door cracks. Children have been sleeping in closets, according to a lawsuit now being filed in federal court.

On Friday, some tenants from the Gray's Landing complex are set to testify in hopes of limiting ICE's use of tear gas, among other things. They argue that chemical weapons violate their rights by making them sick and contaminating their homes.
