"We see a positive impact on safety," says Kristian Malzhoff of Noa in a press release.
Last year, 108 residence bans were issued against individuals; in 2024 the figure was 154. The evaluation shows that ordinary levels of violence - including robbery and assault - decreased by 13 percent in the affected areas. In control areas, violence decreased by four percent.
Serious violent crimes fell by 18 percent, compared to two percent in the control areas. However, the decrease was only seen in areas with a large number of stay-away orders - other places saw an increase. This suggests that “a certain intensity of the action” is required to have an effect, according to the police.
