Since July, police have been able to demand that social media platforms take down gangs' "advertisements" for criminal missions within an hour. Failure to do so risks fines of up to five million kronor.

The police say they have used the law on about 30 occasions over the past month and a half, primarily against TikTok but also Instagram, says Strömmer.

The ads can be about anything from throwing a hand grenade to shooting someone dead.

In all cases, the advertisements have also been taken down, and that means that through this tool you can already see that you are weakening the gangs' ability to recruit children digitally, claims Strömmer.
