The report comes from P4 Jönköping in a new review of the high-profile case where 14-year-old Mohamed and his friend Layth, of the same age, were kidnapped and murdered by men in the criminal network Foxtrot in the summer of 2023.

Since Mohamed's mother did not speak Swedish, it was his 12-year-old little sister who initially alerted the police.

Despite the family contacting the police a second time to beg for help in finding the boy, the police never called back, and an interpreter-assisted interview with the mother was deemed unnecessary. At the same time, the wrong location was noted in the police report.

It stated that Mohamed disappeared from an HVB-home in Linköping instead of Nyköping.

In the police's internal conversations, it also emerges how two police employees make fun of Mohamed's Somali mother.

According to Håkan Boberg, police area chief for Jönköping, the police will investigate whether the handling of the boy's disappearance should be internally evaluated, reports P4.
