The Police Authority states that it broke the law when an interpreter was not hired in connection with the disappearance of 14-year-old Mohamed, reports P4 Jönköping.

It was in the summer of 2023 that the 14-year-old Mohamed and his friend Layth were kidnapped and murdered.

According to an investigation by P4 Jönköping, Mohamed's family was dismissed time and time again when they asked the police for help to find the boy.

Now, the Police Authority itself states that they violated both Swedish administrative law and the Convention on the Rights of the Child because they did not arrange for an interpreter in connection with Mohamed's disappearance and the family's contacts with the police.

It is on the assignment of the Parliamentary Ombudsman (JO) that the police have investigated their actions and JO will now review the police's statement and then take a position on how to proceed.

The Equality Ombudsman also decided in June to investigate the police's actions in connection with the disappearance.
