A vote of no confidence will take place next week, on June 11, announces Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

The weekend's presidential election can in some way be viewed as a vote of confidence for the country's current government and Tusk. The Prime Minister's party colleague, Rafal Trzaskowski, mayor of the capital Warsaw, was narrowly beaten by the national conservative Karol Nawrocki. Nawrocki, like the incumbent President Andrzej Duda, belongs to the former ruling party Law and Justice (PiS).

The government in Poland appears to be separate and parallel with a presidential office that has the right to veto its proposals. This is what President Duda has done on several occasions since the Tusk government took power in December 2023, and he has thereby limited the scope of action of his opponents.
