Albanese tells ABC that he has written a letter to his British colleague, Keir Starmer, stating that Australia would back a decision to remove Prince Andrew from the line of succession, where he is now eighth.

"I absolutely want him removed and I think Australians want him removed too," Albanese said.

Australia is one of 14 Commonwealth countries that must approve any decision. Before that, both houses of the British Parliament must vote on it. The decision will become valid if and when King Charles gives his consent, according to the BBC.
