The announcement comes after Peru's new government under Keiko Fujimori guaranteed freedom of movement for Peru's former prime minister Betsy Chávez.
The rift between the countries arose when Mexico decided to grant asylum to Chávez, who is accused of being involved in a coup attempt in Peru in 2022 and faced 25 years in prison in the country.
Chávez has now been allowed to leave Peru and has been flown to Mexico on a Mexican military plane, according to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
