A person who sought treatment for chest pain had to wait for an ambulance and later died, reports Västerbottens-Kuriren. Ivo will now investigate the incident.

The chest pain the patient sought treatment for turned out to be a heart attack. The pain worsened significantly while waiting, and the patient later died in hospital, VK writes.

Region Västerbotten, which reviewed the incident, states that the patient's emergency call was probably given too low a priority. If the ambulance had arrived sooner, the patient would probably have had the opportunity for better care. In addition, there were no written procedures for upgrading the priority, the newspaper writes.

The region has reported the incident to the Health and Social Care Inspectorate, Ivo, for further investigation.
