A penguin caused a helicopter to crash in South Africa, according to a crash report. The penguin, which was in a box on the lap of one of the passengers, fell out and hit the pilot's instrument panel shortly after the helicopter took off from Bird Island off the Eastern Cape Province.

South Africa's aviation authority says the collision caused the helicopter to crash. However, neither the pilot nor any passenger was injured, nor was the penguin.

The authority says that the "lack of safe containment of the penguin" caused the dangerous situation. The helicopter was 15 meters in the air when the penguin incident occurred.
