"We just put something together so they can get a little bit of history, so they can get a really good and proud feeling about Jesse Owens and what he accomplished, and how dominant he was. A lot of people forget about those times," NFL coach Raheem Morris said.
The match between Atlanta and Indianapolis will be played at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany, on Sunday.
The stadium was built for the 1936 Olympics, the games that Adolf Hitler saw as an opportunity to showcase the superiority of Nazi Germany and the Aryan race to the world.
But with his four gold medals, the US black track and field star Jesse Owens became a contrast to the Nazi ideology.
"I was actually young when I learned about this and picked it up early. A lot of our players will pick it up, if they don't already know," Morris said.
The move from the coach also seems to have been appreciated by the players.
He paved the way for many African-American athletes, so he could do what he did in that stadium, and for us to actually get to play there, will be really cool, says Atlanta player Bijan Robinson.
The NFL game at the Olympic Stadium starts at 3:30 p.m.
