The patient had a known vascular disease for which surgery was planned. When the patient experienced symptoms that could be due to a worsening of the disease, the person sought care at an emergency room. However, the patient himself believed that the symptoms were due to a "harmless muscle strain," the region said in a press release.
A nurse consulted with the surgeon in charge, and it was determined that the situation was not urgent. Therefore, the patient was sent home with painkillers.
A short time later, the patient died. It was later determined that this was due to an acute worsening of the disease.
