Starting on Saturday, November 8, Greater Stockholm Public Transport (SL) will be rerouting several bus routes and closing stops in central Stockholm – for several hours every Saturday in the future. The reason is a recurring demonstration march that Palestine demonstrators are arranging.

A total of 12 bus routes will be rerouted and 97 bus stops will be closed between 1:10 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays in the future, according to SL. Different routes will be affected at different times. There is currently no end date.

"The demonstrations are planned to take place every Saturday until further notice. Then you can get around more easily by subway, commuter boat and commuter train," SL writes on its website.

The lines affected are 1, 2, 4, 6, 50, 57, 61, 65, 67, 69, 76 and 515. Tram traffic on Spårväg city line 7 may also be affected.

When demonstrations affect public transport, SL has no way of stopping them, says Natalie Nordenswan, press communicator at SL, for Dagens Nyheter .

"Demonstrations and other events regularly affect bus traffic in Stockholm. The difference now is that these demonstrations take place every Saturday and have had a more predictable and extensive impact on inner-city traffic," she writes in a comment.
