Despite warnings about poor road conditions, more than 200 roadblocks took place in Stockholm County on the same day a traffic inspector in Södertälje was killed in a traffic accident, a compilation by P4 Stockholm shows.

A traffic inspector died on the afternoon of January 14 in an accident during a driving test in Södertälje. The same day, the Swedish Transport Administration had urged motorists to avoid unnecessary car trips, but 208 driving tests were still carried out in Stockholm County, of which 57 were in Södertälje. Driving tests are always cancelled during an orange or red weather warning, but not during a yellow one.

"We are now looking at how we can become better at making these assessments so as not to jeopardize safety in any way," says Cecilia Borgljung, head of the department for driver testing at the Swedish Transport Administration, to P4.
