Their documentary film "The Last Journey" was not among the selected films when the Academy announced its "short list" of the year's best international films.
On the other hand, it was almost a full pot for the other Nordic countries. Both the Swedish director Magnus von Horn's film "The Girl with the Needle", which is Denmark's Oscar bid, and Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel's film "Armand", which represents Norway, went on to the selection for the Oscar gala next year.
The Icelandic film "Touch" directed by Baltasar Kormákur is also in the running.
Fifteen films have made it through the first round of the nomination process for the year's best international film. The list includes the favorite tip "Emilia Pérez" from France, "The Fruits of the Sacred Tree" nominated by Germany, and Mati Diop's documentary "Dahomey", which won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
The 17th of January next year, it will be revealed which films have finally been Oscar-nominated.
