But the speed is still reduced to 50 kilometers per hour on the road section near the airport that was flooded with water in the morning.
According to the traffic manager, there is still a risk of new restrictions in traffic during the rush hour later in the afternoon.
The congestion began at seven o'clock on Thursday morning and at nine o'clock the bridge was closed to vehicle traffic in the direction of Denmark.
The reason was the water masses that had accumulated on the highway past Kastrup. During the course of two hours in the morning, 8,000 liters were collected.
The road's foundation is being washed away and the road can crack, said Henrik Stormer at the Copenhagen police to the Danish news agency Ritzau in the morning.
Queue for ferries
As the queues grew, people began to leave their cars and walk in the direction of travel, a person told Sydsvenskan.
Also on the Danish side, there were reports of people leaving their cars. Danish DR showed pictures in the morning of people walking along the road towards the airport with their luggage. In Helsingborg, the stop on the bridge caused long traffic queues to the ferries, writes Helsingborgs Dagblad.
Groundwater suspected
The reason for the flooding is being investigated, but Danish authorities suspect that it may be groundwater that has seeped up.
On Thursday afternoon, they had gotten the problem under control, so that no new water came out onto the road. Minor damage had been found on one of the roadways and these will be repaired during the night.
They will also continue to monitor the condition of the road over the next 24 hours.
