The road's foundation is being washed away and the road can crack, says Henrik Stormer at the Copenhagen police to Ritzau.
Danish authorities describe the flooding as unusual. During the course of two hours in the morning, 8,000 liters of water accumulated. The Danish police are helping with the roadblocks.
In several places, including the Öresund Bridge, traffic congestion has been created after traffic has been diverted.
The Transport Agency tells TT that there are short stops on the Öresund Bridge in the direction of Denmark to reduce queue formation in the tunnel on the Danish side. All traffic is being diverted at the first exit in Denmark.
According to Sydsvenskan, the queue formation on E20 started as early as 7 am on Thursday morning.
People have started leaving their cars and are walking in the direction of travel, says a person to Sydsvenskan.
There are also reports on the Danish side that people have started leaving their cars. Danish DR shows pictures of people walking along the road towards the airport with their luggage.
"Drivers who are currently sitting in queues in the area are asked to stay in their vehicles," writes the Copenhagen police on X.
The Danish police also urge those who are heading to the airport to travel by public transportation.
The reason for the flooding is being investigated.
