He chose to highlight the war in Ukraine as harmful to competitiveness.
"I doubt that too many normal people understand what competitiveness means," Orbán said.
In front of journalists, he presented his own strategy for competitiveness:
"Stop the war in Ukraine. War is bad for business," Orbán said.
"Don't send your money to Ukraine."
Orbán, considered close to Russian President Vladimir Putin and who has repeatedly opposed EU support for war-torn Ukraine, also stressed the importance of strong leaders at Thursday's informal meeting of EU heads of state and government.
