Even smaller parts of Skåne, Halland, Västra Götaland, Blekinge, and Kalmar counties are affected by the warning.
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) urges everyone to avoid unnecessary travel and to allocate more time for their journey, driving very cautiously.
There is also a risk of major problems with ice formation on overhead power lines.
Large parts of Västra Götaland county, Skåne, Blekinge, and Kalmar counties are also subject to a yellow warning for sudden ice slicks. This also applies to northern Östergötland and Sörmland, and parts of Örebro county, Stockholm county, Västmanland county, and Uppsala county.
Infrastructure and Housing Minister Andreas Carlson (Christian Democrats) says in a written comment to TT that the government is in close contact with responsible authorities. He urges those who can to stay at home.
"For those who, despite the warnings, must travel, I want to emphasize two clear appeals: Drive carefully. Keep a safe distance," the minister writes.
