Opec is lowering its forecast for oil demand this year and next year, the oil cartel announces in its monthly report.
Opec is lowering the demand for 2024 by 135,000 barrels per day. Despite the decrease, they expect a total demand of 104.3 million barrels per day this year. For next year, they expect 106.1 million barrels per day.
The lowered forecast comes, among other things, after signs of lower demand in China.
The oil price has risen in recent days, partly due to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
