Only two skiers will start in the Swedish women's team in today's 20 kilometer classic in Davos, Switzerland. With only hours left until the start, Jonna Sundling is also dropping out, according to the International Ski Federation.
Jonna feels tired after two tough sprint competitions at high altitude. We have therefore decided that she will rest today for the best chance of recovery, says national team coach Andreas Domeij to Expressen.
Sweden can field six skiers, but with Sundling's sudden withdrawal, only Moa Ilar and Sofia Henriksson will participate.
Ebba Andersson and Frida Karlsson have previously announced that they will prioritize training over the competition in Davos. Several skiers have also been affected by illnesses.
Coach Andreas Domeij tells SVT Sport that the World Cup also clashes with the Scandinavian Cup, and that several skiers have chosen to prioritize the latter.
Sundling won the victory in Saturday's sprint final in Davos. It was her eleventh individual victory in the World Cup and the second this season.
I've never been so happy in Davos, she said after the race.
Sundling won ahead of the Norwegians Mathilde Myhvold and Julie Myhre.
