He was given an assignment, reported on it, and was then allowed to become a member, says Chamber Prosecutor Lars Hedvall.
The man has built up a Swedish cell of the organization, tried to recruit new members, and spread propaganda material. Lars Hedvall describes Maniac Murder Cult as a neo-Nazi organization with strong Satanist traits.
They are trying to push for a social collapse through acts of violence that will result in a new social order. They want to see a new fourth kingdom with a white man as ruler, he says.
The group is classified as a terrorist organization in Canada and the United Kingdom, according to Hedvall.
They are linked to a large number of crimes, including murder, he says.
Hedvall says the organization has been linked, among other things, to the murder of a 74-year-old woman in Romania and to a school shooting in Tennessee.
The organization originated in Russia and Ukraine, but has since spread around the world. Lars Hedvall cannot say how widespread the group is in Sweden.
The charges are being brought at Attunda District Court and the investigation has been conducted by Säpo. The crime is alleged to have been committed from November 2025, when the man became a member, until he was arrested in February 2026.
We can see in the material that he has been interested in these types of ideas and, over time, has sought out Maniac Murder Cult, says Hedvall.
The minimum penalty for participation in a terrorist organization, a felony, is two years in prison.
