Olympic Silver Medalist Josaia Raisuqe Dies in Traffic Accident at 30

The rugby player Josaia Raisuqe, 30, has died in a traffic accident, writes L'Équipe. Raisuqe won Olympic Games silver in seven-man rugby with Fiji last year.

On Thursday morning, the 30-year-old on his way to club team training with Castres Olympique when he, in a car, was hit by a train at a railway crossing.

The training was cancelled in connection with his teammates being informed about the tragedy. The club has established a crisis team.

"It is with a heavy heart that we this morning received the news that our player Josaia Raisuqe has died in a traffic accident. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family and close relatives", writes Castres Olympique on their social media.

The Fijian played between 2015 and 2017 in the French top league for Stade Français and then went to clubs in the country's second league, Nevers and Castres.

He made 21 matches for Fiji in seven-man rugby.
