On May 26, Claude Lemieux was honored on the ice in Montreal. Just two days later, Vegas defenseman Andersson and the hockey world were informed of his passing.

"It was just... well, it's one of those things you just wish wasn't true. You just try to be there in some way, as much as you can, for the family," he said at a press conference ahead of the start of the NHL finals series against Carolina.

Andersson said he had a close relationship with Lemieux.

"He was truly one of those people I could call about anything," he said.

Lemieux was 60 years old. Authorities have ruled the death a suicide.
