Old Ullevi in Gothenburg has been the women's national team's declared home arena since the arena was inaugurated in its current form in 2009.
Five years ago, the agreement was extended, but it expires at the turn of the year and will not be extended.
Several national team players have expressed their desire to play international matches on larger arenas. The national team has played on Strawberry arena in Solna – the men's national team's national arena – and on Eleda stadium in Malmö, arenas with larger audience capacity than Old Ullevi.
Monday evening's playoff to the European Championship against Serbia was played on Tele2 arena in Stockholm.
The decision to no longer have Old Ullevi as the national arena does not exclude the possibility of international matches being played on the arena in the future.
We are keen on having the content with women's national team matches and perhaps also men's national team matches come to Gothenburg. We have a dialogue on how to draw up a cooperation agreement on future international matches as well, says Lotta Nibell.
