The home team Buffalo, with Swedish team captain Rasmus Dahlin at the forefront, fell behind already after 89 seconds when Bobby McMann gave the visitors the lead. Before the first period was over, Auston Matthews had extended the lead after being played forward by Nylander.
Toronto continued its dominance in the middle act and scored three more goals, with Nylander involved in one of them.
Buffalo managed to narrow the gap a bit in the third, but it never got more exciting than Toronto's Swedish attacking star being able to nail the final score 6–3 in an open net with 20 seconds left.
The visitors from Canada have now won four of their last five matches. For Buffalo, things look much darker – tonight's loss was their twelfth in a row.
