Residents of Visby and Borlänge have so far had to settle for a single hour of sunshine in December - but there are those who have had it even darker.
It's not even an hour in Stockholm, says Linus Falk.
Apart from the farthest north, where it is polar night, five places top the league of darkness. In addition to the capital, the measuring stations in Umeå, Luleå, Norrköping and Svenska Högarna have recorded less than an hour of sun during the first eleven days of December. However, these are preliminary figures that may need to be further examined.
Low pressure dominated
It has been dominated by low pressure and a lot of clouds. If this had been in the summer, the clouds could have been burned away by the sun that is high in the sky, but now in winter the sun is lower and does not have the same power, says Linus Falk.
Throughout December last year, Stockholm had 33 hours of sunshine, while Norrköping had 29 and Svenska Högarna 34. Umeå had 38 and Luleå had two hours of sunshine.
The sunniest place so far during this year's Christmas month has been Karlskrona, where the sun has peeked out for eleven hours. Next comes Hoburg on Gotland with ten hours.
Chance of sun on the west coast
And maybe it's time to get out the vitamin D bottle and the sun lamp, because things don't look like they'll get much better anytime soon.
In general, there is still a lot of low pressure coming in from the west. But it looks like there are individual places and individual days that may get sun, says Linus Falk and gives an example:
During Saturday afternoon, the sun may appear on parts of the west coast.
