Norway can call itself World Champions in porridge. Knife-cut black oats were behind the success, the World Champion themselves believe.

World Championship in making porridge has been decided since 1994 in Scottish Carrbridge. But this year, for the first time, a Norwegian went home with the "golden spurtle". A spurtle is a Scottish stick used, among other things, for porridge cooking and which, unlike a ladle, does not draw the contents with it in the same way.

The Norwegian winner, Sven Seljom, has a clear picture of why he reached all the way to the title:

I probably won because of the knife-cut black oats I use. It is very special. It's only us in Norway who have it, he says to the local newspaper Lindesnes.

Seljom is delighted with the success.

It's actually completely surreal. I'm incredibly happy, he says.
