It was during the Ski World Championship in Trondheim earlier that the scandal became a fact. After having manipulated their suits, three Norwegians were disqualified from the competition. Later, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation banned a total of five Norwegian ski jumpers.

Now, Fis is choosing to act. The equipment committee has decided on stricter controls and harsher penalties.

If you get disqualified in connection with an event, you get a yellow card. It's practically a warning. If you get disqualified a second time, you get a red card and have to abstain from a World Cup weekend, says Norway's representative at the meeting Tom Hilde to Norwegian Dagbladet.

From now on, the equipment will also always be checked by two officials instead of one.

Nations and the public must regain confidence in Fis, Tom Hilde emphasizes.
