When Dylan Cozens countered to make it 4–3 for Canada while shorthanded at the beginning of the third period, the fun looked to be over.
Norway had other plans.
Christian Kåsastul tied it 4–4 eight minutes into the period and Canada barely had time to absorb that blow before 18-year-old Tinus Luc Koblar scored to make it 5–4 for Norway.
The major upset still didn't happen. Ryan O'Reilly tied the game with less than two minutes left to play, and in overtime Mark Scheifele decided it with his 6–5 goal.
However, the unexpected point for Norway could mean problems for the Blue and Yellow.
After four of seven rounds, Norway has the fourth and final quarter-final spot in Group B, one point ahead of Sweden.
Tre Kronor will face Italy on Friday, before Norway play them on Saturday.
