Tre Kronor lost miserably 2–3 to Norway in the Ice Hockey World Championship after conceding two power-play goals.
It is Norway's first win over Sweden in the World Championship since 2011, when Tre Kronor lost on penalties, and the first ever in regulation time, according to NRK.
One of the greatest Norwegian hockey feats of all time. Sweden, with a team full of stars, is simply defeated by a bunch of Norwegian youngsters and some older foxes. Now the quarter-final dream is alive. Norwegian hockey was not dead, said TV2's expert Erik Follestad, according to VG.
Viaplay expert Ole-Eskild Dahlstrøm calls it a milestone in Norwegian ice hockey.
"It's the craziest thing I've ever experienced in my entire hockey career, and I don't even have the equipment on," he said on the broadcast.
National captain Petter Thoresen says the team had a phenomenal performance.
I've always dreamed of beating Sweden. It's probably the biggest thing I've experienced at national team level.
Norway's match winner Erik Salsten said after the victory that it "doesn't get much bigger in a sporting context."
"Scary. We went into the game believing we could win, and gradually got more and more confident in that. We have to enjoy the victory today," he said in the broadcast according to Dagbladet.
