The scandal-plagued athletics coach Gjert Ingebrigtsen applied for the rights to the trademark last fall, ahead of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The sons, Filip, Henrik and Jakob Ingebrigtsen, protested and later demanded they be allowed to take over the brand.
Now the Norwegian Patent Office has ruled in the father's favor.
"The fact that the plaintiffs bear the name Ingebrigtsen is not proof that they have the right to the trademark," the authority writes, among other things.
In June last year, Gjert Ingebrigtsen was given a suspended sentence for causing bodily harm to his daughter. However, he was acquitted of the charges of assault against his son, also a star runner, Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
