Has PST been involved in illegal handling of information, and could this be in violation of security legislation? PST wants to find out and is launching its own investigation, Director Beate Gangås said at a press conference, where she emphasized that no one is suspected of a crime.
But she avoided all questions about Mette-Marit and what the bodyguards might have known. Instead, she reiterated that the PST is bound by confidentiality and that the agency does not answer questions about specific people or events.
"Our main mission is not to be personal advisors; we provide advice on physical security," says Hanne Finanger, head of the PST's protection of government officials.
