Norwegian growth is picking up if oil is excluded

Norway's gross domestic product (GDP), excluding the offshore industry, grew by 0.4 percent in the fourth quarter compared with the third quarter. This represents stronger growth, in line with expectations.

For the whole of 2025, Norway's growth, excluding the offshore industry, is thus 1.8 percent.

In the third quarter of last year, growth compared to the previous quarter was 0.1 percent. Analysts had, on average, expected growth of 0.4 percent in the fourth quarter compared with the previous quarter, according to Bloomberg.

Including the offshore industry - that is, oil and shipping - Norwegian GDP shrank by 0.3 percent in the fourth quarter of last year compared with the previous quarter. This compares with growth of 1.3 percent in the third quarter. For the whole of 2025, this means 1.1 percent growth.
