Swedish hopeful Edvin Anger was the ninth best Swede in the World Cup premiere in Ruka, Finland. The 23-year-old had almost 28 seconds to the lead and was disappointed afterwards. I go out a bit too hard and lose too much on the second lap, says Anger.

The Norwegian dominance in men's cross-country skiing continues when Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget won in Ruka ahead of compatriot Johannes Høsflot Klæbo and Austrian Mika Vermeulen.

Edvin Anger was the best Swede in ninth place.

I think I'll have to struggle then and I'll go out a bit too hard and lose too much on the second lap, says Anger and continues:

I'm told that I'm leading and getting a little too aggressive and going for it a little too much.

He sees the race as a good lesson.

Yes, absolutely. A very good lesson and it gets tough on a course like that with such steep hills when you start to get tired.

Gustaf Berglund finished two places behind Anger, but had a completely different attitude towards his performance.

"It was great to get a taste of the premiere. When I came out on the second lap I felt like I had a good body," Gustaf Berglund tells Viaplay.

Unfortunately, this is not an Olympic distance. I hope to do well in the other competitions so that I can go for an Olympic spot.

Alvar Myhlback finished in 16th place.
