The King's personal physician will travel to Tenerife to assist the local healthcare system in caring for 89-year-old King Harald.

"The Royal Couple are currently on a private stay in Tenerife during their winter vacation," the court said in a statement.

The court will provide a new update on Harald's health on Wednesday after his personal doctor assesses the situation.

Both Harald and Queen Sonja, 88, have had health problems in recent years.

For example, Harald suffered an infection while on holiday in Malaysia in February 2024 and subsequently had a pacemaker implanted.

Sonja was flown by ambulance helicopter to the National Hospital in Oslo in April last year after experiencing breathing difficulties at the royal family's mountain cabin. The Queen also had a pacemaker inserted in January of the same year after suffering from heart fibrillation during a skiing trip.
