The rules contain a list of what is included. The most unhealthy products, such as candy, soda, ice cream and energy drinks, may no longer be marketed directly to children.
For other products, such as breakfast cereals, yogurt and fast food, limit values for different nutrients are used. For breakfast cereals, for example, the amount of sugar and dietary fiber will be decisive for the assessment of whether the breakfast cereals are covered by the marketing ban or not.
"We are determined to ensure that children and young people are healthy and that it is easy for them to make good choices in their daily lives. These rules contribute to this and show that the government takes public health seriously", says Minister of Health and Care Jan Christian Vestre (Ap) in a press release.
But the law, which was adopted in the spring, has many exceptions. Companies that manufacture unhealthy products, for example, may continue to sponsor children's sports and similar activities.
