When Erling Braut Haaland scored the 2-0 goal in the 90th minute, the Norwegians celebrated as if the game were over. Fireworks were set off over Oslo. But extra time never seemed to end, and when Neymar reduced the score to 2-1, the red-clad football fans in the central city park, Spikersuppa, became nervous.

The referee gave Brazil time for one last attack, and the nervousness among the Norwegian football fans grew into panic. Finally, the signal came - deafening cheers followed immediately.

"It will be a World Cup medal," says Hovne, amid hundreds of dancing red-clad people.

Daniel Lauritzen has been partying all night, and now the celebrations continue. He got nervous early in the match when Norway's first goal was ruled out for offside.

“Beat England”

"It's absolutely insane. I'm not a football fan, but the World Cup is something completely unique. I'm just incredibly happy," Lauritzen tells TT.

Did you think you could win?

I was “fifty-fifty”. It is wonderful to be Norwegian today. I am very proud, he says.

How far does Norway go?

I think we can beat England. Then I don't dare say anything more.

The night will be long.

There will be a party until tomorrow morning, he says.

The big screen in the park shows the Norwegian national team players sitting down and making the famous rowing gesture on the football field at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The Norwegian fans row in time with the players on the screen.

“Party all night”

Now the party continues in the capital. Most people move towards the castle a few hundred metres away.

There will be a party all night, of course, and in the coming days too, says Anne Vervik, who is celebrating with her friends Emma Blekeli and Ella Kramer Bolstad.

Vervik also believes in a medal.

Norway wins the World Cup.
