It was the kick by Norwegian goalkeeper Ørjan Håskjold Nyland in added time in the first half that Norway wanted to have taken again.

"When Ørjan shoots the ball out, it hits the camera wire, so it becomes much shorter than it should have been. The referee should have checked it," assistant coach Kent Bergersen told Norwegian TV2.

Seconds later, Jude Bellingham made it 1-1. The goal was allowed, much to Norway's displeasure.

Shortly afterwards, FIFA published a clip showing that the ball's built-in sensor did not register that it had hit something in the air.

"There is therefore no evidence that the ball hit the wire and changed direction," the association writes on X.

According to the rules, there will be a dropped ball if the ball hits an external object.
