North Korea will send up to 30,000 soldiers to the Russian side of the war against Ukraine in the coming months, according to intelligence from Ukrainian officials, which CNN has taken part of.
According to information from several of Ukraine's allies and South Korea, North Korea has since last autumn sent more than 10,000 soldiers to the Russian region of Kursk, after Ukraine's offensive there last summer. About 4,000 of them are reported to have been killed or injured in combat.
Last week, information came from South Korean intelligence that North Korean military construction workers and engineers may also be sent to Russia. They will help with mine clearance and the reconstruction of Kursk.
