North Carolina man admits fraud after AI songs streamed billions of times

The indictment is one of the first successful prosecutions of AI-related fraud in the music industry, which is hard-hit by fake music that threatens to flood streaming services and deprive musicians and copyright holders of their revenue.

The 52-year-old man is alleged to have streamed the fake songs billions of times and received more than $10 million in royalty payments.

He now faces up to five years in prison.
