In Sunday's referendum on the issue, the votes in the nine electoral districts have been counted, with 60.9 percent of the votes for No compared to 37.0 percent for Yes, according to SVT Nyheter Blekinge.
Opposition councilor Ida Lapell (S) tells SVT Nyheter Blekinge that she is happy with the outcome.
"The important thing for us in this has been democracy - that people should have their say," she tells SVT Nyheter Blekinge.
The election results are still preliminary and will be confirmed on Wednesday.
Municipal referendums are advisory, but the leaders of the three largest parties (M, SD and S) have told TT that they will follow the results.
Voter turnout was 48.4 percent.
